February 14-15, 2026 Winter Waterfowl, Lighthouses, & Pine Barrens
Some say (we do!) that winter is the BEST time to visit the Jersey Shore. New Jersey is the southern edge of the range of special migrating waterfowl, like the harlequin duck, red-breasted merganser, and the common eider — as well as loons, long-tailed ducks, brant ducks, and purple sandpipers. The barrier island inlets make for wonderful bird photography. There are no crowds or bugs. Winter sunsets are magnificent and on the early side. And there stands the possibility of hot chocolate. What more could you want?! We’ll give you more than that, though! We’ll use the opportunity to visit lighthouses, the New Jersey Pine Barrens (the largest wild area on the mid-Atlantic coast), and an option for local music & food. NOW, what more could you want?!?
