October 14 Meeting 7 pm in person and on Zoom
Jamie Moore is becoming well known both locally and internationally for her beautiful renditions of still lifes and flat lay designs, incorporating everyday items from her home, her garden, and her kitchen into photographs that elevate them into artful renditions, often with a vintage vibe. Still life is her favorite genre of visual art, and her style has been heavily influenced by the Old Dutch Masters of the Dutch Golden Age and the Italian Renaissance. She also applies concepts from psychology to create photographs with strong visual impact and meaning. Her goal is to craft images with aesthetic depth, inviting the viewer to slow down and linger while imparting warm feelings of peace, wellbeing, and belonging.
In her presentation, Jamie will discuss where she finds creative inspiration for her photography, and how she uses that inspiration to compose her beautiful images. She will also offer insight into how she creates a flatlay display, since it requires a different kind of lighting and camera techniques than a traditional still life setup. This should serve our members well since the theme for the December Showcase is flatlays. Jamie will set up a demo flatlay on site, as well as allow some time for members to experiment with items they may want to bring as creative inspiration.
In addition to the Old Masters, Jamie is inspired both by her international travel and by the workshops she has taken to advance her skills. To see more of Jamie’s work, you can visit her website at https://www.essentialquince.com and follow her on Instagram: @reverieinblue. She also will have a show at the Urbana Library from October 15 - December 15, titled "A Still Life Style: Savoring the Beauty of Small Moments."
